The importance of a Bedtime Routine
Did you know that having a consistent bedtime routine is a simple yet effective way to help your baby learn how to sleep? Having a predictable routine at bedtime lets your baby’s body know it’s time to wind down, relax, and get ready for sleep. Bonus: studies show if you can gently engage all 5 senses in the routine (look, listen, taste, touch and smell), it can help solidify the routine and promote better sleep!
I know there’s a lot of information out there on bedtime routines, but I promise it can be incredibly simple!
Here’s an example of what my baby’s bedtime routines look like:
Bath (look, listen, touch, smell)
Lotion & Jammies (touch, smell)
Feed (taste, smell)
Sing a song (listen)
@mellibabyco sleep sack (touch, smell, look)
Sound machine on (listen)
Lights off (look)
This routine can take less than 20 minutes and in that short period of time, your baby will begin to feel a sense of security, relaxation, and be ready for sleep:)
