Stressed because your baby will only nap on you?
One of the most common concerns parents have is that their baby will only nap if they are holding them. This causes a lot of stress for parents because they feel like if they hold their baby for naps, it will form bad habits and their baby will never learn how to sleep.
I have good news for you: holding your baby for naps will not form bad habits, and it’s totally okay to soak up those snuggles!
Here’s why: naps don’t even begin to develop until 4 months. So, before 4 months, your baby can nap wherever they nap best, even if that means it’s in your arms:)
Contact naps during the first 4 months are totally normal and to be expected. You are your baby’s safe space, so of course they feel the safest in your arms!
No. This won’t form bad habits.
No. This won’t confuse your baby for night sleep.
Why? Because again, naps don’t develop until AFTER 4 months. And day sleep and night sleep use different parts of the brain. This means your baby can nap in your arms during the day and still learn to sleep 12 hours at night.
If your baby is older than 4 months and struggling with long, independent naps, I have a FREE short naps guide you can download HERE.
Happy sleeping!
